Shadwell Childcare (incorporating Shadwell Nursery) offers a truly wonderful environment in which your child can flourish in a safe and secure location. Set within the breathtaking grounds of Shadwell Primary School near Leeds in West Yorkshire we offer a unique opportunity for exciting and stimulating activities that encourage active learning through play and exploration. We believe in giving all children strong Foundations for Life..

At Shadwell Childcare we are proud of our safe, caring and fun environment where all children and parents are welcomed and immediately become part of our nursery family. We celebrate each child and recognise the role we play in shaping their futures. Each child is respected, valued and recognised as an individual within the Nursery and as an important contributing member of our wider community.

Children's happiness is key to our daily activities and they learn through play with lots of praise and hugs along the way! We are lucky to have our provision set within wonderful idyllic surroundings with fields and animals viewed from our windows!  The nursery prides itself on high staff retention giving stability within the setting and we believe that our organic planning and thorough moderation systems allow every one of our children to have the very best possible start in life.

EYFS - Parents Forum

We recently invited all parents and carers to an EYFS forum. We are pleased to say this was a huge success and incredibly well received.

The evening explained the Early Years Foundation Stage which is the guidance we use to support your child's learning and development.

We shared how your key person and staff plan activities to support the children's needs and learning and, conscious that due to Covid visits have been limited, we invited you to look around the nursery room whilst we demonstrated activities that your child takes part in daily.

Parent Feedback:

I just wanted to send a quick email, to thank you all for tonight.

I found tonight really interesting and came away even more confident.

I think the way you work with the children, building their confidence is amazing, and the most important thing is you all obviously care, a lot.

Your passion was obvious tonight as always, and that I can't thank you enough for.

Potential vacancy for User Trustee

Following a period of significant change and growth culminating in our wonderful Ofsted inspection, the trustees of Shadwell Childcare would like to recruit a maximum of 2 User Trustees to provide an insight into the needs and wishes of those who use our provision and help us move forward even further. A User Trustee is someone who uses the services provided by the charity; in this case, parents or carers of children who attend - or childminders / relatives who regularly drop off / collect from - our nursery or wrap-around care.
Call 0113 265 9050 for more info.

Shadwell Childcare offered care for Critical essential workers families and vulnerable children throughout lockdown.  In line with Government guidance we then opened up further sessions to our pre-school children prior to opening fully. Please see our updated risk assessments for the nursery.

Parent Partnership is very important to us, please see the Key Person bags we recently launched. We hope you and your child enjoy them! Key Person bag Information

We now have a Home Learning and COVID-19 page available containing information and support for parents along with learning support packs and videos for your children to keep in contact with their key person. This was invaluable through the pandemic and we continue to use this page to support families when their children are away from the setting during illness, holidays etc. We hope you love it as much as we do!

As a non-profit organisation we use any additional finances to enhance the setting allowing us to continually strive for excellence for all children, parents and staff..

At Shadwell Childcare we believe that we offer the perfect local solution for your childcare requirements including a Breakfast Club, an Out of School Club and a Holiday Club catering for children from the age of 2 up to 11 years of age.  Overseen by 4 Trustees, all highly experienced in the childcare arena our focus is on providing the best childcare possible for ALL children.

If you need any more information or require clarification on anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be very happy to help you. Got a question? Drop us a Line! Or call 0113 265 9050
